The Great Controversy

Have you ever wondered why parents abandon or abuse their children? Why people are unscrupulous? Why people experience guilt? Why people are without hope? Why people die? Why there's divorce, regardless of who's right or wrong? Right now, someone is trying to break into someone's house. At this very moment, cancer is taking a life. Somewhere in the world right now someone is inflicting violence upon another person. Why do these things happen? But more importantly, why do human beings cause so much harm to one another?

In Genesis 1:31, the Bible says, "Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day." When God finished creating the universe, He declared that all of His creation was very good. Everything He had made was perfect, without spot or blemish. All of nature reflected the purity and peacefulness of its Creator. Most notably, there was harmony between God and His crowning work of creation; mankind. Man was created in the image of God (Genesis 1:26, 27) and had a virtuous and noble character. His desires did not stray from those of his Maker. He had pure intentions. No iota of deceit was found in him, but a loving heart beaming with loyalty and adoration for His God.

Such was the spiritual state of man when he acknowledged God; before he dealt treacherously with Him, before man allied with the Devil and denounced God as his Creator, Owner, Ruler, Master, King, Benefactor, and Father. In essence, when man disregarded God's command to not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil (Genesis 2:16, 17) he declared there is no God (Psalm 14:1). When man sinned he foolishly thought he would gain ascendency over God, he professed himself to be God (Exodus 20:3), and disregarded the Supreme Ruler's authority. That same nonchalant attitude towards God that caused man to sin (1 John 3:4) in the Garden of Eden is manifest in the hearts of many today. Men govern themselves without any regard for God.

When sin came into the world (Genesis 3:17), human beings became prisoners of the war of good vs evil in the conflict between God and Satan, and their souls became the coveted prize. All of humanity's suffering is attributable to this conflict. This is The Great Controversy. This is the spiritual warfare that has plagued creation since the time of the fall of man in Eden (Genesis 3:6, 7) and would have caused, if not for Jesus Christ (Genesis 3:15), fatal and final devastation on earth.

Humanity’s crisis is that we do not know Who to worship. We are in peril because we have cast our backs to the LORD our God (1 Kings 18:21; Jeremiah 2:13; 4:22). Without the knowledge of God, it is impossible to break free from our self-imposed prisons. One man's prison could be gossiping, another person's prison could be pornography, another could be selfishness or greed, and another could be killing, stealing, and so on...

No force is more powerful and efficient in propagating a godless agenda today is as the theory of evolution. Evolution advocates for the utter discounting of God and ridicules the notion of a belief in Him. It attempts to nullify and eliminate humanity's accountability to God, and in turn, strips mankind of his God ascribed worth and purpose. Where there is no purpose, pleasure becomes the highest of all callings. This is the reason why so much anarchy is rampant in society. People pursue pleasure at all costs and to the detriment of everything. The culmination of this pleasure-seeking is bondage to sin.

At CLOUD AND FIRE, we are ambassadors for God. We are devoted to restoring worship to the one true God (Deuteronomy 4:35, 39; 32:39; 1 Corinthians 8:5, 6), and fly His banner through our apparel and other merchandise. Our lifework is to free people from sin by cultivating in them a worldview that is essential to a happy and useful life. A life guaranteed to help them secure life's best results. We aspire for humanity a life that is free from uncertainty, fear and anxiety. A life filled with peace, hope, and love. This life can only be attained when we acknowledge Jesus Christ as the solution to every one of life's problems; when we make Him our sufficiency and our trust (Proverbs 18:10, Psalm 9:10, Lamentations 3:25). It is only when we find wholeness and fulfilment in Jesus Christ that we can be free from the shackles of sin, and become influences that are effective for the world's uplifting.
